So In the day 6 of December I decided to attempt a 3 day dry fast and I also decide to fast from social networks.

Why? I haven't done a big fast since 2015 and I already want to do it for a while although I started doing it when I started practicing yoga in 2008/2009.

December 6: 10.30 p.m., the fast started, usually I dont eat so late, but I had to see a patient.

December 7 (New Moon): Slept really really deep, woke up feeling fresh, emotionally good, current weight 71kg, late afternoon Leg work out - focused on strength (boosts both testosterone and growth hormone levels makes part of my week routine twice a week), rest of the day as normal, not feeling tired or thirsty, no desire for food or water.

December 8: another amazing night of sleep, feeling with will power but kind of physically letargic probably detox symptoms, I Know this because as soon as I did my ashtanga routine it got much better, got 1h30m outside getting sunshine. Late night I was really thirsty and after 49hours without food or water I decided to break the fast with some water and continue the water fasting till the next day. Weight: 69,5kg

December 9: If I could measure my sleep I would say this was the best night for sure, I was still not fully hidratated so I woke up thirsty. This was the hard day for me in terms of physicall energy. I passed all day moving around and doing things at home but I was missing that power, what I can feel I was still with on detox.I broke the fast at 19h (68h:30m of total fast) with some boiled cow meat. Weight: 69.7kg

What I really felt that super increases during the fast is how your mind gets super focus and clear, your sleep gets much deeper at least this time for me, for many people happens the opposite. Your mood also gets more stable special if you are already keto adapted.

I was never hungry during the 3 days of fasting, actually I didnt had desire for food at all and I could had continue the water fasting, this happens because my body is already keto adapted so the ketones are the source of the energy of your body. True hunger only starts to be felt most of the time after the day 5 and the feeling is a disconfort on top of the throat, stomach pain is more related with detoxification and lack of nutrients.

Weight: There was not a signficant lost of weight during the 3 days, there was lost of water for sure and some fat, as for muscle no loss at all as you only start breaking muscle tissue after more then 72hours without food.

During the fast I practiced meditation and breathing exercices, they improve even more your focus and the cleansing of your body.

What is a dry fasting?

There are actually two types of dry fasting: hard dry fasting where you can touch the water at all not even brush your theeth, or having a shower and the common water fast where you just do not drink water.

When you are on a dry fast, your body becomes a waste-burning machine and eliminates toxins in different ways than normal.

Dry fasting is said to be equivalent to 3 days of a water fast when it comes to detoxification, which means it can burn fat up to 3 times faster than water fasting. Dry fasting can be exceptionally beneficial to cell regeneration and repair. It also leads to autophagy where every cell of the body can clean house -- scraps of dead, diseased, or worn-out cells are removed.

Top 8 benefits:

1) Enhance Cognitive function

2) High Anti Inflamatory Activity

3) Balance lipids

4) Glycemic control

5) Diabetes prevention

6) Lower blood pressure

7) Prevention of coronary heart disease

8) Bone health

other benefits: enhance longevity, increase neurogenesis (neuron production) lower oxidative markers, balance insuline levels, and improve brain plasticity, promoting a healthier life span, reduction in fat tissue, cellular repair through autophagy and sustained ketosis.

Dry fasting is practiced by million people around the world as cleansing, penitence, self discipline, or to feel close to thei deities.

-Judaism (during Yong Kippur)

-Christianity (during Lent and Advent)

-Mormonism (one Sunday of each month)

-Buddhism (to aid meditation)

-Jainism (to reach transcendence)

-Islam (during Ramadan).

The Islamic, Mormon, and Jewish fasts are the only ones that prohibit water, so they’re true dry fasts.

Dry Fasting Stages:

Stage #1: Burning Glycogen (If You’re Not Fat-Adapted)

When there’s no food or water, your body will try to burn stored glycogen if you’re not fat-adapted. This burning mode can last 2-3 days, so this would be the only fuel in an intermittent dry fast.

Burning glycogen instead of fat will make your body produce less metabolic water and might cause more discomfort.

Stage #2: Burning Fat

You can take a shortcut and start burning fat from day one by adopting a ketogenic diet.

Using fat from the start will help you stay hydrated, lower thirst, prevent discomfort, and enter ketosis much faster.

Current diet: one meal a day Carnivore ancestral diet (since 6 October) - (ex plant based: vegetarian 1 year, 9 years vegan) - I dont count calories.

Current Practice/s: ashtanga yoga, calisthenics, movement, handstand, strength training.
